The party started with the students making a music themed craft. While the students were working on their craft, some students chose to go to the piano and play their favourite Christmas Carol.
After the craft, our Secret Guest arrived! The students enjoyed their homemade cookies and juice while listening to Santa read what story? You guessed it! “Twas the Night Before Christmas”.
After Santa’s story, each student got to sit on his knee and have a little chat with him. My students were all on Santa’s “nice” list, of course. Santa had a little surprise gift for each student.
After Santa left, we played a Christmas Carol game with the boomwackers. Sam accompanied the boomwacker players (students), by playing “Jingle Bells” and “Jolly Ole Saint Nicholas”. Little Sam (age 6), had only been taking lessons for ONE month, prior to accompanying the boomwackers on the piano….amazing!! We were having so much fun with these, that I forgot to take pictures of it. Boomwhackers are tubes that are tuned to the piano keys. The tubes are different lengths, so each one makes a different sound. This was so FUN, that we kept playing the Carols again and again, each student switching tubes with each other. Feedback from parents and students was that the Christmas Piano Party was a highlight of their Christmas Season!
